  • In 2010, Cristian had won the Under-14 World Championship, with Chile defeating Italy in the final. 2 years later, he had broken into the ‘Top 10’ in the ITF (International Tennis Federation) junior rankings. In September 2012, he had become the youngest Chilean player to play a Davis Cup match.
  • At the 2013 French Open, he had reached his first junior Grand Slam final in both the singles and the doubles events. He had won the former, defeating Alexander Zverev in the final, and had lost just 1 set throughout the tournament.
  • At the 2013 VTR Open, aged 16 years and 8 months, he had become the youngest Chilean player to win a high-level ATP match when he had defeated Dušan Lajović in straight sets in the 1st round. He had to wait about 6 years for his next such win as he competed in ATP Challengers and ITF Futures tournaments in this period. This 2nd win came at the 2019 Argentina Open when he defeated Félix Auger-Aliassime in the 1st round.
  • In Chile’s 2019 Davis Cup match against Austria, he had won the decisive match of the rubber to give Chile its first win in Europe in more than 50 years.
  • In April 2019, when he won the U.S. Clay Court Championships, he became the first Chilean player to win an ATP title since Fernando González won the 2009 Chilean Open.
