Fourteen years ago, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland worked together in the creation of Futuresex/Lovesounds, an album considered as a modern pop classic to many. Even though their followup, The 20/20 Experience, wasn’t hailed in similar regard, it was still an example of the creative chemistry between them.
Timberlake dropped a new record, Man of the Woods, in 2018, but Timbaland wasn’t involved. The producer and singer-songwriter haven’t worked together in years, however, fans can look forward to a project sometime soon.
Timbaland reportedly suggested there would be a sequel to the record, FutureSex/LoveSounds 2. The sequel announcement was met with mixed responses, mostly because fans look at the first project as an untouchable classic. To release a sequel and tarnish the legend of the first would be a nightmare to many.
Regarding what both artists have been up to lately, Timberlake and Timbaland have both gone on to do entirely different things. Justin has since started a family with Jessica Biel whereas Timbaland and Swizz Beatz created Verzuz amid the pandemic.
Timbaland has also done a bit of press recently in which he revealed how he struggled with substance abuse and dropped a ton of weight in the aftermath. Justin, on the other hand, was in the headlines when it was rumored that he had cheated on Jessica with another woman.

In fact, follow-up reports claimed Jessica and Justin had added a no-cheating clause to their prenuptial agreement in case they wound up going through another infidelity scandal. In November of 2019, Justin was accused of fooling around with Alisha Wainwright during the filming of the movie, Palmer.
Photographs featured Alisha and Justin sitting together with Alisha’s hand on his knee. The pop star later released a statement in which he apologized for his “lapse in judgment.” He also made it clear that nothing happened between him and Alisha.

Timberlake went on to say that it wasn’t the example he wanted to set for his child. He apologized to his wife and his family for embarrassing them. “I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be,” Timberlake explained.
