Justin Timberlake’s San Jose concert over the weekend was the most exciting night of an 8-year-old boy’s life thus far. Julian Delan’s mother took him to the Timberlake concert for this 8th birthday. Her autistic song donned a very Justin-like Fedora and a bow tie for the event; Timberlake is his favorite artist.
When the mother and son duo arrived at the concert, Julian spent the entire time chanting that it’s his birthday and seeing the star is his present. Where most parents would be a little nervous that their son was getting on the nerves of those around them, Delan’s mother was, too. She worried her son’s excitement and uncontained happiness would irritate those sitting near them during the concert.
She needn’t have worried, anyway. Instead of becoming annoyed at her son, those sitting around the Delan’s made it their mission to attract the attention of the superstar on stage and let him know that it was Delan’s birthday. The crowd went wild when Timberlake took notice of the little boy on his birthday, and they all joined in when he superstar began to sing, “Happy Birthday,” to Julian. To say the little boy was thrilled is likely an understatement; I’m sure it was the best gift he’s ever received.
“It took us over an hour just to get outside the arena whilst Julian was high-fiving and fist-bumping everyone that stopped him. Thank you for showing me I was wrong about what the world would do when they saw my son. Thank you for seeing him and not just his disability,” Julian’s mother, Marika Rosenthal Delan, posted online following the concert. It’s a moment that will surely make an 8-year-old boy happy for the rest of his life, and it was also a moment that made his mother happy.
