He made his domestic debut in 2012 during the Vijay Hazare trophy and after this season, he got into the Ranji Team for Karnataka.
Nair scored 494 runs in 6 matches in his debut season of the Ranji Trophy that led to Karnataka winning the tournament after almost 13 years.
He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in his debut IPL season from 2012 to 2013 and then played for Rajasthan Royals from 2014 to 2015.
In the 2016 edition of the IPL, Nair was picked up by Delhi Daredevils for a price of 4 crores and became the highest run-scorer for the team.
Karun Nair battled death in 2016 when his boat fell off during the boat fest in Kerala.
